Interview with Natalie Mott

Natalie Mott has been with Overflow from the beginning.  If you have been to past Overflow events you most likely have met her and heard her speak.  She is a dear friend with a deep and abiding love for Jesus.  She is a gifted speaker and we are so excited that she is back with us again this year!  Natalie has an infectious spirit that is full of joy.  She loves her people well and is a true sister and friend in the faith.  We sat down with her to ask her some questions so that you can get to know her better.

Natalie, you have such fun and fashionable style! What’s your favorite outfit right now? Who influenced your love for dressing so cute?

Wow - thank you so much! Style to me is an expression of your personality and interests. I love that you get to express yourself through what you wear. I am in love with all things jean with a pop of color, as well as blush and nude tones. However, on the weekend I am an active wear girl because comfort is everything!

My mom really influenced my style. As a little girl I would play dress up in her high heels, jewelry and clothes. It was so much fun.

Do you have a favorite meal or place to eat?

Yes, I am a Cajun girl and I live for crawfish season. My favorite place to eat crawfish is LA Fisherman. They have a variety of seasoning's you can choose from for your crawfish. My ultimate fav is the crawfish with kablam sauce which includes a little bit of everything with corn, potatoes and shrimp. Dee-lish!

Do you have a scripture that you have been holding on to in this season of life?

Yes, Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, this is the way; walk in it.”

I am approaching a different season in my life as I prepare for my daughter’s last year of high school. I am really holding tight to this verse because I need direction for the both of us. I have had so much anxiety about “what’s next” in our lives, but this verse gives me comfort.

What is your favorite part of being a mom? What do you love about your daughter?

Geez – I spent a lot of my early parenting years doing a lot more correcting than connecting so I would say that my favorite part is the learning experience. Being a mom has taught me to be more patient, more loving and much more appreciative of every moment I have with my daughter.

I love that my daughter has grit. It doesn’t matter what kind of disappointment she faces, she is quick to express and embrace those hard emotions and forge ahead. I love that I can lead her to Jesus in those tough moments as well. I think as mom’s we think we can do it all, but we need Jesus’ reinforcement and guidance.

Why do you think that Overflow is important to the women attending?

Because Overflow is more than an event. It is a place buzzing with women who can linger in the presence with the One who restores, hear deeply honest things that rise up from lessons learned from others and a place that they can bring their tender stories. It is such a soul strengthening place and from the moment you walk in you feel a strong sense of belonging.

Why do you think it’s important for the church to welcome single moms and embrace them into the body of Christ?

If the church doesn't reach out to them, then who will? The church is the divine hand extended to the single mom and breathes hope and possibility into their lives. Single moms have to still live through their stories with unique needs and circumstances, but the church can come alongside them and provide support so they don't have to go at it alone.

What are you praying for on the day of Overflow?

I pray that every woman is filled with hope and encouraged where they are, as they are.

We want to thank Natalie for her time and her commitment to Overflow year after year.  She is a faithful member of our family and we are so glad she is back again this year.  She will definitely make the day brighter and funnier for all of us!  We can’t wait for you to meet her and experience her contagious love for the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Don’t forget to register!  If you register before May 24th you will be entered into the drawing for a free week at Pine Cove.  The details are on our website at  We can’t wait to see who goes to camp this year!
